EPIC works with its members and business partners to promote education and training in the field of photonics. Organizations member of EPIC, or member of a cluster member of EPIC, are welcome to provide opportunities on educational programs, exchange programs, summer schools, internships, and other education and training opportunities.

University Programs offered by EPIC members (BsC degrees and specialized courses)

  • Chalmers University of Technology: offers the master program Wireless, Photonics and Space Engineering. Technologies utilizing electromagnetic waves, from microwaves to optical frequencies, including device and system technologies. Specific photonics courses in the program include Fundamentals of Photonics, Laser Engineering, Optoelectronics, Fiber Optical Communication.
  • Fraunhofer IZM: Photonics Packaging Master thesis in collaboration with the Technical University of Berlin and other universities. www.izm.fraunhofer.de
  • ICFO: offers internship programs for undergraduates, different activities for school and high school students, a Master in Photonics, a PhD in Photonics, and is also co-founder of the EuroPhotonics Program Erasmus Mundus Master Course (EMMC) and Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate (EMJD) EUROPHOTONICS, in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics. www.icfo.eu
  • ICFO offers together with the Technical University of Catalonia a focused PhD program in Photonics.
  • ICFO, Universitat de Barcelona, and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya offer a comprehensive Master (MSc) program in Photonics.   • PIXNET: The Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors and NETworks Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree is a two-year programme (120 ECTS) aimed at training talented students in the design, creation and assessment of innovative integrated devices based on photonic technologies. The set of learning outcomes include the theoretical design of system/network devices, the design and simulation of a photonic integrated circuitfabrication in a clean room facility and the packaging and final testing of the prototypes. http://pixnet.santannapisa.it/

  • University College London (UCL): MRes in Photonic Systems Development offered through the UCL-Cambridge Centre for Doctoral Training (www.photonicsystems.org) and MSc in Wireless and Optical Communications. Specific photonics courses in Photonic Sub-Systems, Broadband Technologies, Optical Transmission Networks and the Physics and Optics of Nanostructures available to industry participants wishing to undertake flexible, professional development on a part-time basis.
